Tomas Vera at a DACA rally

My name is Tomas Vera. I am a California native, a veteran of the US Navy, a latino, and a proud Democrat. I am a graduate of Sonoma State University and work as an IT Analyst for Placer County.

I am running to be an Assembly District Election Meeting (ADEM) delegate to the California State Central Committee.

In the beginning

I am orginially from Santa Rosa, California. I grew up in Mendocino and Sonoma counties where my immigrant parents worked to provide me and my siblings with a life they could only dream of in their native Mexico.

I graduated from Piner High School in Santa Rosa and from Sonoma State University where I earned a B.S. in Physics in 1984.

My life as a Democrat

I have been active in the Democratic Party since 2008 when Barack Obama ran for the presidency. As a person of color, I could not sit idly by as another person of color was striving to change history.

Since then, I have volunteered for the Democrats in a variety of roles. I had the privilege of serving as the Chair of the Placer County Democratic Party. I have been an Assembly District Election Meeting (ADEM) delegate to the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) and I have served on its Executive Board and a standing committee.

Canvassing voters

At election time, my favorite activity is canvassing neighborhoods and speaking directly with voters about the many wonderful Democratic candidates who’ve run to represent me in my district.
